Rest assured, Depots are in good hands! Standards for Depots in the province of Alberta are developed by the Beverage Container Management Board (BCMB). The BCMB is responsible for permitting and inspecting Depots and reports directly to the Minister of the Environment.
Depots are inspected in three different ways.
1. Depots are audited to ensure the proper refund is provided to customers through a mystery shopper program.
2. Depots are also audited to ensure the proper amounts are shipped to the processors.
3. Depots are inspected to ensure their facility and operations meet all the requirements set by the industry.
